FOUR-FOLD DOORS CASE STUDY

SBM Fire Station No. 3 (Blaine, Minn.)

The volunteer Spring Lake Park, Blaine, Mounds View Fire Department was in need of doors to complete their newest station, No. 3. The station housed four apparatus bays and a fifth maintenance bay. After numerous repairs to traditional overhead doors due to collisions or springs and track damage, Fire Chief Zikmund was looking for another door system option.

The Chief found his answer in Door Engineering and Manufacturing’s four-fold door systems. Five, 14’ wide by 14’ high, electro-mechanically operated four-fold door systems were designed and built for the station. Four-fold systems allow for full operation visibility, eliminating collisions and increasing productivity with a 7 feet per second opening and closing speed.

Upon completion, the SBM Fire Station No. 3 received an industry award.
